Vodka creates the atmosphere of emotional connectedness, understanding, and relaxation (in the concious stages of inebriation) like no other drink.
There are certain guide lines to follow:
1. The most essential thing for drinking vodka is one or more good friend to drink it with you: drinking alone is a sign of alcoholism.
2. Never mix it with anything.
3. Chill the bottle in the freezer before you drink.
4. Have some good food on the table.
5. Toast before each shot.
6. Minimize the gap between first and second shots.
7. You can skip a shot if you feel like you are getting drunk faster than the rest of the crowd.
Best vodka you can find in the US is Stoly. No matter what you hear about KettelOne or Gray Goose, they just do not cut it.
The absolutely best vodka is Russian Standard. Not available for sail in the US, sorry. The legend goes that the formula for Russian Standard was put together by Dmitry Mendeleyev (remember the Periodic Table?) under commission from the Russian Tsar.
Never buy Absolute or Smirnoff they are just yaaak. And stay away from cheap vodkas.
Good luck!

If the Imperia you’re talking about is the one with the red label, i didn’t like it at all; and i tried it twice. First time I bought a bottle in a liquor store on Brighton Beach in New York, and it tasted like freaking Smirnoff. Then a friend bought three bottles of that somewhere in Texas and it tasted like Smirnoff again. It could be counterfeit, if it’s not Russian Standard had better stop making that shit.

I just returned from a trip to Russia (I work for Russian Standard and Imperia Vodka) and Russian Standard will be available in the US. Russian Standard vodka is distilled 4 times and Imperia is distilled 8 times. If you like Russian Standard Vodka you should try Imperia Vodka.

Except the stuff they sell in bottles with red labels, that stuff is not authentic

I’m down for it any time. You are the one who works more hours. Let me know when you have time.
